Mobile Design System

Overview

Workmate recently rebranded, and we do not have an established design system for our mobile platform. The existing design system is only applicable for our web app and website. This has led to inconsistencies in user experience and brand identity across different platforms.

Problem statement

How might we address the challenges that arise from the lack of a design system, ensuring consistent visual aesthetics, user experience, and brand identity across digital products and platforms?

Solution

To address the problem of lacking an established design system for our mobile platform, I needed to develop a new and updated design system that can unify Workmate’s brand identity and provide a seamless user experience for mobile users.

Conduct a design audit

Before I began designing a new system, I needed to conduct a design audit of our existing screens. This audit helped me identify strengths and weaknesses in our current design.

Analyze our brand guidelines

I examined our brand guidelines and try to understand how they translate to the mobile platform.

Create a design system

Based on our brand guidelines, and design audit, I created a design system that includes a set of guidelines, components, and patterns. This design system is tailored to the needs of our mobile platform. It is also scalable and adaptable.

Collaborate with development

I worked closely with our development team to ensure that the design system could be implemented and maintained effectively.

Document and educate

Finally, I documented our design system and educated our team on how to use it effectively. This ensured that the design system was consistent and sustainable over time.

We moved from Notion to Zeroheight.

Impact

The new design system ensured consistency across all platforms. Additionally, the design system made it easier for our design and development team to implement and maintain the mobile platform, saving time and resources.

Overall, the updated design system improved Workmate’s brand image, enhanced user experience, and increased efficiency.
